Caps for the Cure
|
Caps for the Cure is a fun and easy way to raise much needed funds and awareness for pediatric brain cancer research. We are asking schools across the country to help us in this battle by allowing their students to wear a hat for the day to show their support for pediatric brain cancer research. In exchange for their ability to wear a hat for the day, students will donate $1.00 to The Cure Starts Now. Excited about helping children with brain cancer and want to do more? Many schools have offered to make the event bigger.
Here are some ideas:
- Have the classes compete with each other to collect the most money.
- Have a teacher or staff member offer to do something crazy (shave their hair, wear PJ's to school, dye their hair pink) if they raise a certain amount of money.
- Offer an ice cream/pizza party or other incentive if they reach a certain goal.
Be creative! Kids always like a challenge and this is a great way to teach them the benefit of giving.

Cooking up a Cure: Taste of Tellico Cookbook
|
Two local Tellico clubs, Tellico Riders and Village Vettes have joined forces in the battle to find a cure for pediatric brain cancer. For the second year in a row, the club members will contribute their best recipes to publish a cookbook. The "Taste of Tellico Volume 2" will feature all types of main dishes. The cookbookis the second in a series of cookbooks. The first "Taste of Tellico" appetizer cookbook, published in 2009, was a tremendous success. The books are unique because they bring together a collection of local Tellico resident's favorite, no-fail recipes to create a compilation of cuisine's "Greatest Hits".
The cookbooks will go on sale in September, just in time for holiday gift giving!
Generous sponsorships by Granite Transformations, The Grove Wine and Spirits and 72 Wine and Spirits have underwritten the printing costs and allowed 100% of all book sales to go directly to The Cure Starts Now.
