Leyla is a strong willed, athletic 14 year old girl. She enjoys cheerleading and hanging with friends. Leyla was suffering with headaches which were diagnosed as migraines for over a year, when finally a delayed MRI showed a large mass in her 4th ventricle. After an emergency room visit to CHOP and further testing Leyla’s mass was determined to be an Ependymoma. She was scheduled for surgery the next day. She received a total resection by the amazing Dr. Madsen. Unfortunately, Leyla’s tumor was found to be cancerous and her next battle began. Leyla is currently receiving proton radiation therapy at CHOP/UPENN with the support of Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia.
