Madison's journey started in June of ‘22 when she was first diagnosed with migraines. Madison went most of the summer switching medications because nothing was helping with the migraines. On October 3rd I (mom) brought Madison into the ER as I couldn’t get her to stay awake and if she was awake it was long enough to throw up and then right back to sleep and she just moaned in her sleep. We spent the night in the ER and then the next morning at shift change the new ER Dr came in assessed Madison and immediately ordered a CT scan where they initially found a mass. They rushed her off to surgery to have a drain put in to reduce the swelling she had on her brain and while still under sedation they took her to an MRI and found four more tumors. On Oct 5th Madison underwent brain surgery to remove the two largest tumors, one being the size of a golf ball and the second the size of a large marble. We then spent a month in the hospital where she started proton radiation and chemo treatments. We then were discharged to the local RMH since we live so far from any treatment facilities. She finished chemo and proton radiation in early December where we were able to go home and spend the holiday there.  In January of ‘23 she started monthly chemo treatments where she would spend roughly 4 days in the hospital a month getting chemo and then have weekly count checks until her next round of chemo. Most months our stay was extended due to complications of treatment. In March of ‘23, Madison started to have severe neuropathy and foot drop and became dependent on a wheel chair. Madison ended treatment on July 31st. On August 27th 2023 Madison stated that her right leg was numb so we called her oncologist and explained what was going on. He said to come to the ER where she was admitted and the next day an MRI was scheduled, Madison results came back that her cancer had returned. She has now started her second journey with Medulloblastoma.
