In 2019 Remy was diagnosed with a condition called NF1. After finding she had some tumors growing on her body, as well as vision loss and what looked like a stroke. And after a battle with the hospital, we decided to do a full body MRI, where on December 22,2020, we found that she had a Glioma in her Optic nerves. 

At that time, they wanted to start a port and a very hard chemo. We knew at the time that we could watch and wait, as a new trial was coming up so we went with a different hospital. To watch and wait. 

In late 2021, we noticed that some of her symptoms were worsening, as well as it had started to grow. The hospital we were at would not start the trial so we started the lengthy option of going with a different hospital. 

When we switched hospitals, we opted for the trial chemotherapy. At this time, it was summer 2022 and we waited 5 months for approval. The hospital decided to fully fund chemo with compassionate care. 

Today Remy has gone through many symptoms including mouth sores, hand and feet sores, rashes, and her hair turning white. But most of those symptoms have gone away and she is a happy 5 year old. 

We were very lucky because many children cannot wait for a trial or even to start chemotherapy. This is why funding is so important as well as research.  But today, with starting the trial so early, it has now been approved for children as young as 1, since Remy has been on it. 

Remy had her most recent MRI in June, where we found out for the first time her Glioma has shrunk. This is the most amazing news as Remy has already been on chemo now for almost 300 days and she has another year!
