Winston was diagnosed with a rare cancer in his spinal cord 5 days before his 4th birthday. After 6 months of going from specialist to specialist and no one knowing what was wrong, it was an act of God that it was found. As he was bent over one day his mom noticed his spine looked a little crooked. And after getting no answers anywhere else, she mentioned it to the pediatrician as a last effort to find out what could be causing the stomach pain he was having. After X-ray’s it showed scoliosis and he was sent to an orthopedic specialist. They performed an MRI and that was the day we were told the news. He did 8 months of IV chemo but the cancer kept growing bigger and bigger. He was finally accepted for a clinical trial and his tumor began to shrink slightly. He went through the hardest, toughest, days with a smile on his face. He is his mommy’s hero. He enjoys camping in his camper gifted from make a wish, his pug Mia, and playing with his sisters and friends.
