The Central Massachusetts Chapter of The Cure Starts Now was started in honor of Kate Arpano. She was diagnosed with DIPG on August 16, 2014. She fought with bravery and strength for 17 months. In her all too short six years here on Earth, Kate inspired so many with her love for life, compassion towards others, and her endless silliness. She loved playing with her little sister, dancing, playing silly jokes, school, cooking, shopping and cats. Kate taught everyone that there is always time to stop to smell the flowers, to find joy in every single day, and to do good for others. Her belly giggles, contagious smile and big hugs are missed every day.

I am excited to begin a chapter of The Cure Starts Now in honor of Kate. When we were faced with the heartbreaking news of her diagnosis, and the fact there was no cure, only palliative or experimental treatment, it was unthinkable that was possible in this day and age. I am dedicated to helping find a cure so other families in the future don't have to hear those same devastating words.

The Cure Starts Now (501c3 Federal Non-Profit) is one of the only cancer foundations dedicated to a “homerun” cure for all cancers, starting first with one of the most deadly and difficult cancers: pediatric brain cancer. Many experts believe that the lessons we learn from fighting pediatric cancer may in fact provide us the critical first step in winning the battle against all forms of cancer, both pediatric and adult.
